Solved Uploading Rates
-
Is there a way to upload a rate table? I spend a LOT of time entering rates for each property. If there were a way to upload from a file (that I could create from excel), that could be a huge time saver.

Hi @Jenny-Oest,
If there were a way to upload from a file (that I could create from excel), that could be a huge time saver.
You can do exactly that! Check out our CSV property importer.
Note that you can find and edit your “external property ID” using the “Edit Property Identifiers” option on the property overview page.

@Danny-Eiden so this will allow me to update rates without writing over the whole property?

Yes! If you upload a rates CSV file that references your existing property, it will simply add rates on top of your existing rates. The CSV importer cannot remove rates or other property information. You can edit existing information, but adding new rates with unique identifiers (see the “Rate Id” column of the CSV template) will not touch your current rates.

Mine was blank there, so I had to find it on the HA dashboard. Unless you mean we should use the shortcode?
-
@Danny-Eiden - looks like it doesn’t like the rate ID. Should I use the shortcode?

Hi Jenny,

The code in the HA dashboard is actually a different code, unrelated to the CSV importer. This is why the rate import didn’t work.
Should I use the shortcode?
Unfortunately this won’t work either. You need to use the External Id. The External Id is blank until you set it. This can be done manually for each property or through the API. It can also be set when you create a property through the CSV importer.

@Danny-Eiden - you might have to dumb it down a bit more for me. Does this mean I can just make one up and put it in the field when you say done manually?
-
That’s exactly right! You can make up anything you want, as long as no two properties in your account have the same External Id. It’s totally for you to use however you like.
-
@Danny-Eiden - well hot dog! Artistic freedom it is!
Hope these names are public - I might have some fun. LOL

Hahaha! I am sorry to say that only you get to see the External Id in the MyVR dashboard, in the API, or when entering it into a CSV
Cheers,
Danny
