Is there another option for payment processing now that Stripe no longer returns refund charges?

@Jill-Evarts
Did you get any answer to this question about Stripe?
Does anyone know of any options beyond Stripe?

Not really. Square changed their policies around the same time as Stripe. We updated our guest rental agreement to state that we do not refund credit card fees under any circumstances.
Had we thought to add a $100 administrative fee for cancellations, we would have another $25k in our bank account right now.

@joseph-sennish - How do you align that with the VRBO cancellation policy choices of 100% refunds? I’ve been contemplating something similar but have been on pause trying to align a policy that fits with theirs.

We changed our policy in 2018 to reflect we’re only refunding the funds we have. I’ve only ever had a few people ask why. They were good with the response that we don 't get them back and don’t feel it’s fair we carry the cost of their cancellation.

@joseph-sennish - If you keep even a dime, that means their Service Fee is also non-refundable. I guess they can fight that out with HomeAway/VRBO…
I just received this today:

@jenny-oest - Here is the link to the checklist:

The reason prices are not consistent is because they show the lowest possible rate on their search page .
They’re dealing with a seasonal business and it seems they have lost touch with that their practices are the problem.
We have 30 day rentals that book for $6k in the off-season and $15k in July & August. But a surfer sees “Starting at $200 per night” when they perform a search for August.
Most of the experienced guests have figured it out. It’s the new customers they are losing through poor programming, not inconsistent pricing.
