Do reservation requests expire?
A guest sent a reservation request but wanted to split the payment between two cards. We were dialoguing about that before accepting her request when she placed a second request, which we accepted, assuming she must have understood the conditions by that point. Now the first request is just sitting there. We can’t “cancel” it. Is there some way to de-activate it, or will it expire on its own?
@ann-karako Is this request through a channel manager or through your website?
If it’s through your website, just decline it.
If it’s through HomeAway/VRBO, I’ve been told by them to accept one request, and then rather than decline the second, to call your contact at HomeAWay/VRBO and if it’s a duplicate (same guest, same dates) and one has been accepted, they can remove the second without hurting your stats.
If it’s AirBNB or Trip Advisor, I’d recommend the same steps.
@jenny-oest Doesn’t the guest get an automated “declined” email? I don’t want to confuse them.
@ann-karako to my knowledge, the 24 hour expiration is a VRBO/HA thing. I don’t recall an automatic template for expired requests in the “library”.
I’ve had reservation requests go past that as we worked out details but I may have sent them revised terms.
OK, yes, I should have clarified that this is a MyVR reservation. I don’t think there is an expiration that happens automatically, but if I decline it, won’t there be an email that goes to the guest?
@ann-karako yes but as when you accept, you can customize it.
