Solved Custom Fields for Reservations Are Here!!!
-
I was poking around today and look what I found! Custom Reservation Fields are HERE!
Here is an example of what I just set up - SO EASY! I’m sending my unique DOOR CODES out with an automated template! I used to manually fill in the field and then send. Now, I enter the info into the reservation field, and let the system send it!
Here are the Steps:
Step 1: Create the custom field for reservations:
Select Setup - Custom Fields - Reservation - Add New Field:
Enter the Field Name under Summary:
Select the Field TYPE under Data Type:
Step 2: Add the data to each field for each reservation:
Go to Setup - Message Templates - My Templates, and select a current template to update, or create a new one.
Next, Add the custom field to your template - find it in the left hand column under Custom Fields (alphabetically sorted by field name) and drag it to the location where you want it in your document. Note: If you want to format the data, just apply the formatting commands to the field name.
Step 3: Test the Template and Field
Test your template with a reservation message (no need to send when testing) - and you can see how it will appear to the guest. Just use the template and the data will automatically populate.
Step 4: Automate if desired:
Set up your automation if you wish. These custom reservation fields can be stored for manual reference, or included in your automated emails.
Hope this helps!

@jenny-oest Thanks a lot for surfacing this and providing the instructions. I’ve used basic custom fields for only a couple items but this opened my eyes to a whole new set of automation for my properties.
